Reporting Analyst

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000

General

Housing Software has two main functions:

  • Developing software, primarily for the Social Housing sector
  • Providing support services for its partner company M3 Housing Ltd

HSSvalues

We provide software to developers of affordable housing. Our main application, Pamwin Plus, is used by our clients to assess the financial return of and to report on large, varied and increasingly complex housing development programmes. We utilise Excel as the core financial model of our products and for the management of reporting from a SQL database.

 

Purpose of role

This role focuses on two key areas:

  • Maintenance, development, and support of the financial model which underpins the application. Supporting clients and resolving issues reported via the helpdesk and from our consultants.
  • Maintenance, development, and support of the reporting framework around the application. Supporting clients and resolving issues reported via the helpdesk and from our consultants.

 

We are looking for an independent, proactive mindset and a completer-finisher. We understand the value of these attributes and are willing to develop the skill sets of individuals who meet these requirements if not fully possessing the essential skills below. If yo're looking for a varied role free from the drudgery of monthly business cycles, then this could be it!

Primarily working in Excel, utilising SQL queries and extensive use of VBA and macro functionality, you will be part of a small but business-critical team aiding users and colleagues with day-to-day support tasks as well as project-related work. Some activities may be related to Power BI and other reporting platforms, so any experience with these wider software products is desirable but not essential.

Reporting to the Product Director, you will develop solutions to clients' reporting requirements either in reaction to support and change requests or through proactively identified improvements.

 

Main Responsibilities

Report Writing

  • Collaborate with clients and consultants to identify and fully understand reporting requirements.
  • Create reports requested by clients and consultants in Excel and from SQL databases.
  • Support existing clients, working with them to enhance and update their reports.
  • Periodic validation of data imports and exports.
  • Testing new reports and checking for compatibility with the relevant M3 software versions before release.
  • Maintaining a robust version control framework consistently for standard reports.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the main financial model.
  • Assist with system releases, including testing and documentation as required providing support to our clients and colleagues.
  • Respond to client report requests, agreeing and understanding the brief.
  • Identify improvements and changes to data structures and log them in the user request system Monday.com.
  • Maintaining the standard suite of reports issued with the software.

Support

  • provide support to our clients, technical team and Pamwin team and answer client queries
  • assist in testing new releases of Pamwin Plus and Pamwin Lite

Framework

  • ensuring M3 meets its service level obligations to clients
  • ensuring M3 meets its GDPR requests from clients
  • performing other duties as required by your Manager

 

Skills/Experience

Essential

  • Experience and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for:
    • Complex formulae
    • Pivot tables
    • Linking to SQL Databases via ODBC
    • Macros including VBA coding.
    • User-friendly designs
  • Experience and detailed knowledge of querying SQL databases
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and naturally curious.
  • Analytical problem solver.
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently and organise work efficiently, understanding and delivering to competing demands.  

Desirable

  • Experience in using Power BI to create reports.
  • Experience in social housing finance or development
  • An understanding of database design
  • Understanding of SQL Server database administration
